One of my water color paintings

I just love the way she turned out. A while back I posted trying something new and it
has pictures of what my drawings looked like when I started this new journey
this is the result of some hard work and lots of mistakes.
She's beautiful and I'm really proud of her.

I just recently found this recipe in a Paula Deen magazine and thought I'd give it a try.
Let me tell you it's GLORIOUS.

So.....my afternoon snack was a piece of her pie and a nice warm cup of coffee.
It's pretty chilly here today and this just hit the spot.
Recipe is as follows:

Ambrosia Pie
Makes 1 (9-inch) pie

2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 (3.4-ounce) box instant pistachio flavored pudding mix
1 (10-ounce) can maraschino cherries, drained and patted dry
1 (81/4-ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained and patted dry
1 (8-ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained and patted dry
1 (6-ounce) graham cracker crust
1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
Garnish: toasted flaked coconut (optional)

In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and heavy cream at medium speed with a mixer until
smooth. Add pudding mix, beating until thick and fluffy. Stir in cherries, oranges,
and pineapple. Spoon into graham cracker crust.
Cover and chill for at least 4 hours or up to 3 days. Spread whipped topping over top of pie;
garnish with toasted flaked coconut, if desired.
And ENJOY!!!!

OHHHHH I've been so bad

Ok friends and family! First I want to say thank you for sticking with me while I had some time off.

I have greatly missed blogging and am excited to be back.

Above is one of my grandies Kinsey she's going to be 2 yrs. old in just a few days.

This is Tyler. He just turned 3 last month.

And our little Alexia Grace who just turned 1!

This is where I've been dedicating my time for a little while help parents by keeping my sweeties

while they work.

It's so good to be back.

TRYING SOMETHING NEW

This week was finding the true meanings behind the negative thoughts we have

about ourselves and then letting them go.

I pretty much just did what she did this first time so I

could learn what I was doing. When I get my true self portrait done

I'll be sure to post it.

Facial features are so hard to master and take some time and practice.

LOL....Then comes the hair and it's pretty hard in itself.

But really pretty good for my first try.

Here is where we started the water color painting and shading.

It's so much fun I love doing it and will be making many entries to my art

journals.

Then you have the multimedia backgrounds you add on.

Here is my finished project and I am excited to do more.

FANCY SHMANCY TEA SET

Another awesome yard sale find. This tea set was found still wrapping in it's original packaging.

Sitting on a table all alone and disguised in white tissue paper.

I knew what it was without even unwrapping it, Then heard a lady asking how much it was

I about flipped when the man said 10.00 but the lady wanted it cheaper so she said will you take 5.00?

He said 6.00 and it's yours and can you believe it she walked away and left it setting?

What is wrong with this lady I thought but was so thankful she left it.

So I grabbed it up and went to pay and got it for 5.00 *snicker* I collect tea sets and this

one looks just beautiful on my kitchen table.

btw: yes those are my legs in the reflection. Believe me I tried my best to get myself

out of the pictures but the darn pieces are so shiney there was a reflection no

matter where I stood.

This was the buy of my day and I'm simply thrilled.

I HAVEN'T BEEN BUSY AT ALL

So.......How busy were you this past weekend? This is what I was doing.

Making cards for Halloween greetings.

I stamped all these images: Bats, Jackolanterns, and Boo's!

Then used my color pencils and glitter pens to color the Jackolanterns and used

puff pens to write the words Boo and color in the Bats.

Looks like fun huh?

Don't forget to brush the edges with ink after cutting them all out. *giggles*

I forget to do this part pretty often.

Then put them on different background color card stock and yesssssssss

cut them out again. *hehe*

Then put them all together and......

Have something like this to send to family and friends.

Yes I know it's not my best work but you'll understand by the end of this post.

Had a yard sale with Destiney, Brittanie, and Mom.

Just a few of our treasures we were trying to pedal off on unsuspecting

strangers. *giggles yet again*

I thought these were quite pretty but no idea what I would

have done with them....I guess no one else had any ideas either cause

they're still here. Can you believe most of our treasures didn't sell?

But was still a success cause we made a huge pile and donated

all of it to charity!!!

Here Destiney is playing with bubbles.

The babies don't seem to interested but Destiney sure is having fun.

They did have fun actually ran around chasing bubles for some time.

*giggles* This is my bestest friend Jean she came to help us with the sale.

Here you see her asking me what I think I'm doing and to stop taking her picture.

Here she is getting up to whoop my hiney cause I wouldn't stop!

Good thing she doesn't have a computer!

And then I found these little kitties in my closet and decided to make them

witches for Halloween gifts to friends.

I just took long strips of black felt and did a simple stitch on the

top and bottom of the felt, one to gather with and one for decoration on

the bottom of her skirt.

Made the hats by rolling a funnel and making a simple circle then

glued the funnel on top of circle.

Made some signs and put a bat on the top, then stuck that

in her hands.

Put a cute little Boo sign on the back of her dress.

Here she is finished and ready to go. She was so much fun to make.

And that would be what I did last weekend.

COUNTRY STROLL

I thought tonight I would share with you some of the lovely

items I was lucky enough to capture while strolling through

my yard one day.

I started with this picture because I'm usually not lucky

enough to get a picture of any small creature! I'm not very steady

on my feet these days and usually scare anything off before I get the

chance to snap the camera. *giggles*

I love, love, love this picture for it's detail. I'm getting

pretty good at this picture taking.

This is just pure beauty. What more can one say?

And so here is my Mosaic of my country stroll.

There is so much small beauty in our world and so many

times we miss it because of the hustle and bustle of our

everyday lives. I hope you find beauty in each day and

are blessed abundantly with itl.

DUCK DUCK GOOSE

Now when I saw this swarm of Geeses *giggles* I just had to get pictures.
When going home from the lake we saw them under a big tree just
wondering around and checking things out.

There were dozens of them EVERYWHERE!
I've never seen so many in one spot before.

They didn't show us one bit of concern just went about their business
and let me take pictures of them.
They were a sight to see for sure.

OLD MEMORIES

This morning I have some old memories running through my mind.
Like this old building in Verden, Oklahoma.
This was one of the building where mom and dad's business,
"NUTHIN BUT KUNTRY"
was born, nourished, and grew.
We worked for them many years had alot of great times and
alot of hard times but pulled together to get the job done.
We made wood crafts, Oh the number of ducks, cows, rabbits, and houses we painted
it would almost make you sick to see the next batch coming in.
Dad and the boys cut and sanded everything
while mom and us girls painted, glued, and finished the items.
So many memories in this old building which btw mom painted Red! *giggles*
I remember walking in to the smell of beans cooking in a crock pot seasoned
with onions, chilli powder, and garlic made by one of the girls for everyone
to have for lunch, while outside it was so cold you
could see your own breath.
Grandkids running around your feet and asking to drawing patterns for Grandpa.
Destiney at this time was only around 5 yrs old.
Laughing together, crying together and working together.
Going home at the end of our days cover from head to toe in sawdust and paint.
But thankful for a good day.
Mom and Dad don't have their business anymore which grew eventually
to employ 12 people.
Mom got sick and had some hard times and just couldn't handle
the hustle and bustle of running her own business anymore along with dealing
with her health.
Alas....Time goes by, things change, and life goes on.
I miss it greatly, going to work everyday with my family.
But so thankful for the memories made in this old building,
the life I've had, and the best family in the world.

OKLAHOMA SCENERY

Well....it was really close to being a full moon, and my hand is a
little unsteady but you can see some detail at least.

Oklahoma sunset taken from my front porch.

And last but not least Oklahoma Red dirt.
This is the biggest pain it's so hard to get out of clothes and
carpet etc. But....it sure is pretty.

RECIPE HOLDERS

This is what I spent some of my time doing the last week.

Making recipe card holders out of paper clips.

They're really easy to make. I used some chip board tags I already

had hanging out at my house.

I'm thinking they turned out really cute. Only thing is.....

now I have way too many of them. *giggles*

SPECIAL DAY

This special Little Angel just turned One!!!

And has her NaNa wrapped around her finger and knows it.

At first she just looked at her cake and then at her mom.

Then tore right in to that cake.

Just look at that precious face!!!

Ooopps! Got some on my arm, let me get it right quick.

Here mommy, you try it.

She got this little doll, I think it was her favorite thing cause

soon as she opened it she gave it hugs and kisses then tried to suck

it's little bottle. It was soooo darn cute!

Isn't she just the sweetest little thing? This is my favorite picture from the never

ending amount of pictures I got of her.

A DAY AT THE LAKE

Last weekend we spent the day at the lake for daddy's 74th birthday.

All he wanted was all of his family together and to take us

all for a ride in his boat.

A few scenery pictures I snapped from inside the car.

I had to get a pic of the dam. I remember as a little girl daddy

would take us to the lake and we'd walk for what seemed forever to the

middle of this dam and then down the rocks to the waters edge to go fishing.

The entire hill used to be covered in those rocks but now is growing over with

grass and bushes. Good times.

to our growing family.

Two of the most wonderful people you will ever meet, and

Well don't bother stopping at this DQ in Chickasha, Oklahoma they were

slower than slow and we waited forever, like 45 minutes forever.

Tyler loved his french fries after the long wait...doesn't that face just say it all?

And poor little Kinsey just didn't care anymore and gave it up.

This is the longest post I've done to date but soooo well worth it.

It's a tribute to the most wonderful man i've ever known.

AGAIN IN THE KITCHEN

Today I spent part of my day in the kitchen making cookies for my grandies.

On the menu was a new recipe from my good friend Jean!

Chocolate chip sugar cookie balls

Here is what they looked like fresh eeewy, gooey, yummy chocolate chip cookies.

And wouldn't you know it....now I can't find the recipe to share but trust me

they were GOOD!!

OOOOh yeah grandie were over and my little helper was ready to go.

btw: Pay no attention to the mess in the background please.

Come on...you know how messy it gets when you're creating. *giggle*

I just addore this little face when we're baking together.

And what would make this happy face you ask?

Yes....you know us too well.

Caught with his hand in the cookie dough picking out the chocolate chips and eating them.

And here is the dreaded face grammies hate to see,

When mommy says you've had enough and takes the cookie dough away.

I love cookies and love baking but this little fella is the star of the day!

MOSAIC BABY

I have no clue how old I am in most of these so I'll leave the guessing

Second photo here is when I was expecting my first daughter. I know I was 19 here.

Right after the birth of Destiney. Me at Britt's wedding.

Here I am present day, age 47 with my three beautiful daughters.

OH SO SWEET PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

Rainy days are the best days for making homemade cookies.
It's been coming down here all day like a flood and we've been playing in the kitchen.
We made the best Peanut Butter cookies EVER!!!

I'm sure you want a bite so since I can't ship them to you, I'm

gonna share the recipe with ya!

Here they are ready to hit the oven and Tyler is lurking waiting on the first

batch to come out.

And here they are warm and sweet and ready to eat.

Tyler got the first cookie and then sis had to try them too. *giggles*

So we baked all day and this is what the babies did all day.

I may have shared this recipe before but if I did it's worth

repeating so here it is

EASY PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

1 cup peanut butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg

mix all ingredients and bake until golden brown around edges.

Check out the cookie on Kinseys little cheeks!

And Tyler was just a flood with joy. LOL

DECOUPAGE TELEPHONE

The other day while in the midst of one of my many strange moods.

I sat at my desk trying to figure out what to do for my phone. If you look

closely it has some blemishes and rough places and I just wanted it to look clean.

btw: I got this phone at a yard sale for $3.00 after searching for one like it for months.

Then I see my Decoupage Finish sitting on a shelf and think to myself

"YES...that's what I can do to it."

So...I go to my stash of papers and find one I think I like and start

tearing paper and slappin glue then sticking it to my phone.

*crazy? not sure yet*

So then I had to finish around the dial with something and *giggles*

thought this white rope would be great!

Yes I did it! Braided the rope and then glued it around the dial.

Then decided the reciever didn't look right so started in on that too.

Painted Decoupage all over the outside...2 layers.

I kept looking at it thinking *what did I do*

Sometimes even I wonder what is going on in this mind of mine!

Go ahead....it's ok to laugh. *giggles again*

So I decide to leave it alone for the night and see if I can adjust.

The next morning I walk into my office and it's the first thing that catches

my eye. *giggles again* I shake my head and think maybe it'll grow on me.

UH...YEAH...No it's not working for me, in fact

it's pretty much a eye sore and all I do all day is look at the ugly thing.*haha*

Everyone who see's it has a different reaction to it.

Daughter said she loves it,

Mom just looked and said *OH OK* *bunches of giggles*

All I can say is *I GOT A WILD HAIR AND TRIED IT*

LEARNING TO WRITE

Recently I took on a new task....learning to write.
Although, in this post you may not be able to tell if i've learned very much.
Every morning while everyone else sleeps, I grab my cup of coffee and
head to "my space" then give myself 1 hour to
read, learn, and write.
There are two great books I'm reading and learning from:
"WRITING DOWN THE BONES" and "OLD FRIEND FROM FAR AWAY"
by: Natalie Goldberg
If you want to learn more about writing these are two great books to start with.

I couldn't believe when I started studying just how much there
is to learn about the task of writing.

I've already discovered a lot about myself and how to write about it.
It's a very interesting and exciting process and
I'm loving it.

LIGHTENING IN THE LENSE

Hello my blogging friends. I have a question for you.
Have you ever....Stood on your front porch for 20 minutes in the rain
trying to get a picture of the lightening as it flashes across the dark
sky?
Have you ever listened to your family yell at you when the power
goes out to get back in the house?
Yet the photographer inside you cries out from your inner most part saying...
I must get a picture of this!
So...In the darkest of night you stand in the rain snapping away on your camera
just wishing for that one shot...that one chance to capture this
dancing electricity!

So the sky flashes and you snap a picture and you end up with
something like this ^
Ok so now my hair is starting to drip rain into my face but do I
give up? Heck NO!!!

The quest continues and as the sky lights up you snap again
and get this ^ *giggles*
Then comes a slight pause in activity so you decide to go inside
for something to drink and sit for a minute or two so the family will
calm down. *insert more giggles here*
Then it starts up again so you run to grab your camera, run out on the porch,
get ready to shoot, aim high and snap another picture.
And still get nothing. So then you just start snapping pictures thinking...
"maybe I can get one by pure accident"

AND GET THIS^^^^^^
GRRRRRRRRR
So 30 or so pictures later still nothing.
All I get for my effort is...
wet clothes
wet head
freezing cold feet
family upset
dogs shaking cowardly in the corner
and THIS is where I start to think...
"ok so maybe getting lightening in my lense isn't
so important afterall!"
To all who have been able to capture such beauty in
your camera lense I throw out a high 5 cause I sure
wasn't able to capture it!

AMAZING NATURE, AMAZING TREE

I saw this tree in someones pasture while out with Destiney and the babies.

There's something about it that just amazes me and yet can't really put my finger on it.

Although it does demonstrate to us how fragile the line between life and death can be and

maybe even remind us to live each day to it's fullest and appreciate that we have that day.

Half alive and thriving and the other have dead by some mysterious force that

made it's way through her trunk and left her to fade away.

I still look at it and wonder what happened? Do you happen to have any ideas?

Maybe lightening?

LITTLE FAIRY

I love Fairy's and Angels and have collected them for years.
Found this little beauty in Mom's yard one day while visiting and thought
she was so pretty.

Of coarse I gotta get my kisses in and just look at all that
black hair!

And the proud and very happy parents with their new angel.

My heart is full of joy today and I couldn't be more proud.

CANDY POKER NIGHT

For some reason one year the girls came up with family game night
and decided to play candy poker.
Now every time we get together to play games it becomes
candy poker but most times we play on the holidays.
Thought I'd share with you our family game night tradition in
hopes to hear about yours!

CREATING A NEW JOURNAL

I started by creating the cover. This is my handy click it tool for punching

wholes and it works really well. So I used the back cover of a sketch pad cut it

in half then punched my holes.

Then cut all my pages and punched those by measuring them with the

cover wholes and put in my rings.

Inside pages.

Then comes the fun part, decorating the cover.

I used a alphabet scrapbook page for this journal.

Then used card stock paper for inside of cover to clean up raw edges.

Used one of my new Magnolia stamps and got this image.

Pulled out my color pencils and colored the image.

For each color I use a light and dark color in the same color family the lighter

color for coloring and the darker for shading.

You can see the coloring better here.

Add a little theme saying.

And here it is finished and ready for my first entry.

SPIDER WATER

This little fella was found on my porch floating in the top of a glass
of rain water. I didn't bother him just took his picture, I'll leave the
job of getting him out of the glass to dear hubby.

SWEET VISIONS

Papa says it must be done,

And I can't play with things like this,
There's too much danger we might miss.

The other day I was walking to my car and saw this image by the porch.
Thought it was so sweet Tyler parking his lawnmower by Papa's.
It is time to mow as you can tell, but it had been raining for a couple days.
So they parked the lawnmowers waiting on a clearer day.
I just think it's so precious.

STARTING OVER

You may remember this? It is/was my table cloth I was tatting.

Well after working on it for a week I ran out of the thread I was using.

After a trip to Wal Mart and another to Hobby Lobby I had no luck finding the

fiber of thread that matched it soooooo.....

I have to start over but was lucky enough to find a crochet pattern I loved so am doing

the new one in crochet. btw: I made this one into a doily for the livingroom table.

Found this book with patterns for Motifs and really loved the way this one looked.
(almost just like the tatted one)

So I grabbed a cup of coffee and went to work on it.
Had several of them done before I knew it.

I dug through the closet then went to mom's and went through her's and
made sure that this time I had plenty of the same thread to finish my tablecloth.

After making bunches of these in this cream color I thought it would be
kinda nice to have another color in the project so found a roll of a pale green and
made a few out of that color and am now in the process of putting together the
ones I have finished.

THE SOUND OF RUSHING WATER

The other day after a good, long, hard rain it was nice outside so I wandered out for a walk.
While standing in the yard I heard the sound of rushing water and knew right away where it was
coming from. We have a creek that runs behind our house and it's been dry for a good while
but after the rain we had rushing water so I went on the hunt for a good clear spot to get some
pictures.

I love rain and stormy weather and so the rushing water was just a added blessing for me.

This plant/weed is a real buggar. It's called a Bull Thistle and they do give ya a good sting
if you happen to walk in to one. I found this one on my way back home from exploring the
creek. When we were kids my older sister jumped right in the middle of one of these.

Just look at those darn needles. If you ever see one of these steer clear.
I'm sure the look of it alone would keep you away.
So sorry it's been a while since I posted. I've been really sick and am just now starting to feel
myself again.

EASY PLEASEY CHEESECAKE CREATIONS

My cheesecake recipe has been a hit in our family for several years.
This year I wanted to put a new twist on it so grabbed down these
handy dandy glasses (we used these in Brittanies wedding for part of her centerpieces)

Destiney whipped up the cheesecake while I washed and dried
the glasses. Then we started by putting blueberries in the bottom of the glass.
Then a layer of cheesecake, then strawberries and a few more blueberries, more
cheese cake filling then decorated the tops.

Trust me if you like cheesecake you will LOVE this recipe.
It's so easy and don't these pictures just make your mouth water????

Easy Pleasey Cheese Cake

You will need:
1 Graham cracker crust
1 block philly cream cheese
1 tub cool whip
1/2 cup sugar

First let your cream cheese soften in your mixing bowl.
Add your sugar and mix well.
Then add your cool whip and mix that in with your mixer
you cannot fold it in.
Spoon filling into your crust and tada you have
cheese cake.
So easy, so Pleasey and so ready to eat!

SOMEONE'S IN THE KITCHEN WITH NANA

This forth of July Destiney, Tyler, and Myself had a little fun in the kitchen.

He loves being in the kitchen and helping Nana when he can.

He's standing on my step stool. When I go to the kitchen he'll

run in, grab my finger and take me to the cabinet where the stool is stored,

put my hand on the door as if to say get my stool.

Then he'll jump right up on it and start helping me. (which I just Love)

Today we were making cheese cake tarts (stay tuned for the recipe)

And Tyler is working his little fingers crazy putting the blueberries just so...so...

cause putting them just anywhere won't due. *giggles

Now if this isn't the face of pure joy I just don't know what could be.

He's having so much fun.

And all is running smooth as silk....Until....He decides to try tasting one!

Looking out the kitchen window with a look of "I just wonder?"

And then the first one goes in his mouth....well....that was it

we couldn't get him to stop eating the blueberries.

Here he is with a mouth full and then giving Nana one so I can try these things too.

He also loves to share.

See what I mean? He just kept eating them. At first he ate a couple out of the carton.

But then he started taking them back off the tarts he had put them on and eating those too.

*insert more giggles here*

Here he is so proud of his creation, Mommy and Nana were proud too.

And here is his finished product. btw he ate the strawberries too!

GARAGE SALE FINDS JUNE 25TH

I love, love, LOVE this table. I had the perfect place for it in my kitchen and knew
right away I had to have it. Carried it around the sale not even knowing how much it was
at first but didn't want anyone else to grab it away from me till I knew what
it was priced. The lady running the sale wasn't anywhere around so I had to knock on her
door to get her and find out how much it was. :) grin*
The older jars on the sides I found at another sale and knew right away they were perfect
for the table and still have ceramic tin lids on them so they had to come home with me too.
The four jars in the center I got *FREE* cause Mom gave them to me.
Table: $2.00
Old jars: $1.00 each
Center jars: FREE

These cute little tea light candle Angels were so precious I had to
have them in my collection.
Angels: $.50 each

This stack of fabric covered hat boxes caught my eye right away.
They are lined with the sweetest cream color silk. *darn should have got a pic of that
to show you also.
They now sit stacked on a bench in my master bathroom and I
enjoy them every day. They will be used for storage eventually, hand towels,
body sprays, fancy soaps etc. I just haven't got around to that yet.
Hat boxes: $5.00 set

These little things I picked up along the way in various sales.
The candy dishes were both at one sale where the lady was moving and yet had
very very little for sale.
Clock: $2.00
Candy dishes: $.50 each
Little Mocassins $.50
Pretty good sales I hit this week.

MISSING MY BLOG

I'm so sorry I haven't posted much lately. I've caught a terrible cold
and just haven't felt like signing on line at all. I did however have to jump
on tonight (since I can't sleep anyway) and let you know that I miss you
all and can't wait to feel better and get back to my posting.
Tonight another crisis hit us and we would greatly appreciate your
prayers and possitive thoughts.

YARD SALE FINDS JUNE 18TH

I have more yard sale finds for ya. I found both of these cute little items
at the same sale. I addore my "new" aluminum pitcher, it has lots of charm
it's dented all around the bottom and shows it has been put to good use,
however it will be hanging in my kitchen now as another piece to my
country charm home. The glass container of plastic pears I almost
passed up but then thought they'd be a bright addition to my table so
grabbed them up real fast.

Dear Hubby found this addorable trunk and didn't tell me about it
until after we had left the sale.....well....yeppers you guessed it I made
him turn right around and go back and when I saw it I had to have it.

It's just too cute. The tray inside is made of wood and still in great shape.
We're not sure if it's a old military foot locker or just a suitcase trunk or what,
but I love it just the same and have great plans for it.

Fell in love with this lamp brought it home snapped a picture for ya and
placed it right on my desk in my office. It's beautiful all lit up and I'm enjoying
it greatly.

All in all I do believe I did a great job this week and got some great treasures.

This is in my office so please excuse the mess on the walls, I have a digital
art site and I take lots of notes....But this is the way I am most days.
No makeup, hair pulled back and pulled up in back, comfy t-shirt and shorts.

Well...It's not too bad feels kinda funny on my tongue and makes some funny noises too. I hope no one takes it away from me.

Ohhhhhh Yeah I think I like this thing! Nana just asked me if I like my balloon so I guess that's what it is.

I thinks I likes this thing called balloon.

I wonder if Nana is fast enough to get this picture before I move again? hehe

I'm pretty fast and she keeps talking about blurry pictures. She's really excited now so

I think she may have got me this time.

TONGUE TIED

Our precious little Tyler had to have his tongue clipped this week.

We were all so worried but the process was so easy and over so quick.

I haven't posted in the last two days because we were out of town.

Tyler is a trooper and you can't even tell he had anything done.

He's doing great and we're so glad it is done and over.

TRANSFORMATION

Do you remember these? My yoyo's for my tablecloth?
Well as is a woman perogative, I changed my mind the other day and am
now in the process of tatting a tablecloth so I was sitting thinking
Now what in the world am I gonna do with all those yoyo's I made and got in the mail.
Then it hit me...I need a new look for my living room pillows. Something more me so....
why not use them and recover my pillows.

This is the before picture of my pillows currently in my living room.

First I chose a fabric I loved which just happened to be dark muslin.

Then measured and pinned all the yo yo's on the fabric and sewed them all

on by hand. Not easy I might add and my fingers are very sore but well worth

the results I got.

Then I pinned the fabric around the pillow, took needle and thread, and started sewing

around the edges.

I didn't want both pillows to look alike so I changed them a bit. I think they turned out wonderful.

BUT wait I have two other smaller pillows on my sofa but I'm out of the muslin fabric. SO.....

I took some green fabric I had and did these a little different.

I sewed the fabric all around the pillow with a large overlap.

Then pinned yoyo's all around the outside edge of pillows and grabbed

my handy dandy needle and tread and started sewing all those little buggers

on the outside edges.

Turned the fabric edges under and sewed that down on the back.

And this is how they turned out. I love my new pillows.

MY NEW BABY

Let me introduce you to my new baby DAISY MAYE. Isn't she just too cute?
There's a bit of a story behind this but long story as short as I can get it and you still understand, here it is.
One day Mom and I went to Wal Mart to get a few things and these kids were giving away dogs.
Well she and I both got one. A few weeks later her little baby was hit by a car and killed.
Being so sad for her and Dad I decided to give them my dog so Daddy would still have a buddy.
A few weeks after that is when Des got Daisy Maye.
She came to live with us after Destiney got her, and realized it was too much to handle along with
taking care of two babies right now. So I was the lucky one to get her and she's just a joy.
She's a full blood Yorkie and I placed her next to my tv remote so you can tell how small she is.

I finally got her still enough to snap this picture for you. LOL You have no clue
how many pics I snapped before I finally got a clear one.

And yes I just had to share this one. She's saying OK lady
are you still looking at me? LOL Love this shot.
And that's all she wrote, I'm in love and she's my new baby.

WITH MY HEAD IN THE CLOUDS

The other day Destiney and I were on our way home from
the grocery store (Joy, Joy). It was just one of those days when
I couldn't get a good picture of anything...I mean there was absolutely nothing
going on BUT I did have my camera with me just in case.
So...anyway...Just being goofy and having fun with Destiney I just started taking
pictures of nothing particular just random things and these are some of the pics I got.
The above photo is of the road we go down on our way home.

Then I just stuck my camera out the window and toward the sky and I got these beautiful images.
It was a cloudy day as you can see and they are just beautiful.

So next time you've got nothing really to do and your head is in the clouds, take a minute

and snap a few pictures. You never really know what you'll come up with.

FROM MY KITCHEN SUNDAY

Today I made this new recipe Lemon Cream Pie, and it was so good I just had

to share it with you. The above photo is before the family got

a hold on it, and below is a pic I snapped before the last two pieces were gone.

So if you think this looks good just wait till you try it.

LEMON CREAM PIE

1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condenced milk
1 8oz. block Philly cream cheese
1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 Graham cracker crust
Cool Whip

Let cream cheese soften to room temperature. Add sweetened
condenced milk and lemon juice, mix until well blended.
Pour into crust top with Cool Whip and chill for about an hour.
Enjoy!!!

BEAUTY IN THE YARD

Here are a few wild flowers growing in our yard. They are beautiful but looks like it's time to mow again. *hehe
The picture below is of the field next door I thought was very sweet seeing all those little white blooms across the field.

LEARNING TO TAT

I started teaching myself to tat round about a year ago, when I heard about it on line
and asked my mom about it. She said oh it's a dieing art. People don't do it much
anymore but it is so pretty. Well with life happening all around me I had stored
my tatting things after learning the basics, and decided last night to pull
it all out and see if I could make something for my dresser top.

I found this pattern in one of my pattern books. It's supposed to be a place mat but I
thought if I make it a little wider and longer it would be beautiful on my dresser, so that's what
I'm making. I remembered the basics quite well and finished four medallions and joined them
in one afternoon.

And here is my first finished block...not bad for a few hours work. Now I'm thinking tablecloth for the kitchen
table. I addore tatting now. If you have patients and time on your hands you should give it a try.
It is a dieing art and so beautiful we should bring it back.

A TOUCH OF WHITE

The fish bowl of shells sit on a old chair welcoming the sun.
I love love love bird houses and this one is perched in a small tree
waiting for a mother bird to come make her nest.

TYLERS FIRST SLEEP OVER

Isn't he just precious? He had his first official sleep over with nana and papa last night.

BABY SHOWER

to lose my pin...in fact I lost mine before I even got all the pins handed out.

Brittanie's Mother in law, Drenda, playing the diaper game.If you don't know this game it's chocolate bars melted in a diaper and you have to touch, smell, taste the candybar and try to figure out what kind of candybar it is.
The diapers were numbered 1 thru 5. My mom sitting next to Drenda asked herwhat number is that? To which Drenda replied....It looks like number 2 to me. We all had a huge laugh!

My big sis Janet trying to figure this diaper out. And my little sis Kim and her daughter both working hard to win!

Mom to be barely got through this game bless her heart.
It's a real mental challenge. If you think it's easy to get past the mental part of the game try it at the next baby shower you throw. lol

My sweet neice Dena won the guessing game and tore her toilet paper to Brittanie's exact size. I was about 3 blocks short. LOL

Diaper cake made by Destiney which I think is just addorable, and most of the guests thought so too.

And thought I'd throw this in last. Britt wanted a chocolate cake for her party along with the flower cake I posted about a day or so ago, I whipped up this little jewel and thought I'd share the recipe with ya today since it's my own creation.

You need one chocolate cake mix. Mine is dark chocolate. Just make it according to recipe.

Then for filling you need:

2- 8oz. blocks philly cream cheese

1 Large tub cool whip

1 Large box instant chocolate pudding

Approx. 3/4 cup sugar.

Mix softened cream cheese with sugar, then add cool whip and mix well. Last add the instant pudding slowly and mix in well. That's all there is to it.

The cake pan I used is larger than a regular size round cake pan so this mixture wasn't enough to frost outside the cake so it's just between layers and on the top of cake. Actually it's pretty rich and a small piece goes a long way so you may not want to frost the entire cake.

It was a HUGE hit at the shower so I hope you'll try it and let me know what you think!

MOSAIC MONDAYS COUNTRY ROADS

BABY SHOWER CAKE

Snapped this pic of Destiney helping make Daisy's. Cheyenne and I were
taking a well deserved break at this point, Destiney needed one too
but wanted to finish her set first.

Daisy's drying and getting their yellow centers. These fondant
flowers are so much easier and a lot more fun when you
can have a way to get your kids over and play together.

Brittanie's colors are pink and green so we frosted the cake pink and
then added the green swirls (I'm not diggin the green) BUT......
after losting one layer of the cake due to removing it from the pan too soon,and another layer because we waited too long I'm not about to tempt fate and start over again!

And here it is finished. I'm sorry that you really can't tell
a lot about it in a picture but I took about 12 pics and this is the
best I got. The picture does it no justice it's really beautiful
and I'm sure brittanie will love it. She wanted lots
of flowers and by golly she got em.
Not bad for a bunch of first timers huh?

And here are our chocolate favor suckers. Deb there are plastic molds you can buy at almost any craft store in all kinds of shapes, we got ours at Hobby Lobby.Then you buy white chocolate and dark chocolate, melt it, color the whiteto the colors you want then paint the colors in the mold for details,pour in the dark or more white chocolate to finish filling the mold.Add your sticks and refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes then they pop rightout of the mold and TADA you have chocolate suckers.

SIMPLE WOMAN'S DAYBOOK

FOR TODAY
Outside my window there are a few toys spread here and there from my grandson
playing in the yard today, a beautiful rose bush swaying in the wind, and a dog laying on the porch.

I am thinking we need to build a fence for him to play in. We live in the country and
and he loves to be outside but needs a area I know he's safe in when he gets a little older.

I am thankful for my children and grandchildren, Oklahoma sunsets, and peaceful surroundings.

From the learning rooms I'm learning not to take life so serious, and that not everything turns out perfect.
My girls were telling me tonight about lies they told me when they were kids, and here I thought they were
so perfect. Yeah right!

From the kitchen is the wonderful smell of chocolate melting in a pot. The girls are helping
me with making the favors for my youngest daughters baby shower and decided they wanted to make
chocolate suckers.

I am wearing denim capri's a yellow flower top and am currently barefoot.

I am creating greeting cards for family and friends, I make a lot of cards at once and store
them up so when an occasion comes up I know I have cards to send out.

I am going to the Dollar Store to see if they have any more of those
addorable sandles I got last week and then gave to my kids because they
loved them. btw they did have them and I got two pair!

At this time I am reading a book by Dean Koontz titled Sole Survivor.
It's pretty darn good you should read it if you can it's a novel and Dean Koontz is wonderful.

I am hoping that my grandbabies get well soon. They have both been sick and to the doctor several
times and finally got the doctor to give them meds yesterday.

I am hearing country music from my daughters room and my fan blowing.

Around the house all is peaceful after all the kids were here for supper. We always have a wonderful time.

One of my favorite things is the white hutch in my kitchen that I got from Mom.

A few plans for the rest of the week will be going shopping with hubby for what he needs for new job,
making two cakes for the baby shower, one chocolate with a cream filling and a decorated white, and having a
baby shower Sunday evening can't wait.

THORNS AMOUNG MY ROSES

Just look at what I found in my rose bush!! Talk about thorns. I first noticed this about three week ago but just got brave
enough to grab some pics of it today.

This little bugger never leaves the nest....I know....Cause I've been waiting on him to go eat or drink or something for
three weeks so I could get pictures. He kept watching me every move I made, I would walk around the bush and he would turn toward me, I was honestly a little skeered. I guess in these pics I finally caught him off guard, or maybe he knew I was there all along?
Maybe he was thinking "what's this crazy lady doing with that big black thing sticking it in here close to my home".
He stands guard over his nest and protects it, cleaning and watching for trouble. Always alert and ready to defend.
He sure didn't like me much but I got my pictures and we're getting along fine now.

about me and my family. This is our old home place the picture was taken when my sisters took a road trip down memory lane and they went back to the old house and took pictures. That's Mom and Dad on their wedding day and that's me on the far right and my sisters.

ANOTHER HERO

This is my beautiful Mom. Talk about hero's she is for sure at the top of my list.
First I have to tell you to visit her blog....It's beautiful and she's very good at writting
I promise you'll love her.

She has taught me so much. She's a breast cancer survivor also and did it with
grace, beauty, and much courage. (at least that's all she would let us see)
She's always encouraging me to do things like blogging. Without her I
don't know what I'd do. She's the most giving person of time, and knowledge.
There is so much she does that I look at and think Gosh I wish I could do that.
Like the way she can write a story and the pictures she takes, she paints and is
always working in her yard and house creating and doing beautiful things.
I am trying to figure out my own blog style
but sure do want to write and take pics like she does.

She's the most wonderful mother and I could never ask for more than
what she gives...that should tell you a lot about her.
She is my Hero! Love you so much Mom.

MEMORIAL DAY BBQ

Tyler in his Big Wheels car. He loves getting in and out, loves turning the radio
on and off, Does Not love actually driving the car yet. lol
btw: I did inform him that he really needs to find a car wash.

Dear hubby (the cook) firing up the grill and making steaks and hamburgers.
He is the hamburger King, not sure on the steak I don't care for steak so I stick
to my burgers.

Dear daughter Destiney helping Tyler on his slide.
She's a wonderful mother and I'm so proud.

LOL Little Kinsey after eating her lunch which she has all over her face and
is looking at me like Na Na please help me get clean.
We had a grand time and everyone got way too full.

Well I have one of those friends!

Yesterday while cleaning my office I ran across a Christmas present my dear
friend had sent to me. I had it tucked away in a safe place while I was trying to figure
out how I wanted to preserve this giftie, In a shadow box or scrapbook page.
When I saw it I had a little laugh (which I needed at the time).

Last Christmas while talking with my friend about finances and gift buying and the
managing of the two and how to make the money stretch.
She says: So what do you want for Christmas this year besides a million dollars?
I thought for a minute or two and nothing really came to mind.
So I simply replied: Oh I don't know how about two million.
We both laughed and I never thought another thing about it.
Then about a week later my Christmas package arrived and when I opened the box
right on top of everything else she sent was.....Do you know what it was?
Yep 2 MILLION dollars!!!!!

Russel Stover chocolate bars. How she finds these things is beyond me but
she's always doing things like that for me and I love her dearly.
Thought I'd pay tribute to my bestest.

This is a pic of my Dad in his Army uniform. Isn't he just so handsome?
He didn't serve during war time but still stepped up and
was willing to fight if need be for our country.

Daddy has always been a strong hold in my life no
matter what was going on he was always there.
He's still there and I thank God for him everyday.
Daddy taught us to love our country and respect our flag.
Took us to church on Sunday mornings and taught us about God.
Took us all fishing on the Dam at Ft. Cobb Lake, He still
laughs when he tells the story about taking us fishing and he was
so busy taking our fish off the hook and putting another worm on that
he didn't even get to fish.
Always worked hard and provided for his family.
He still teaches me things everyday.
A strong man with a lot of heart.

MEMORIAL DAY

even their lives. I haven't lost anyone to war thank God but know some who have
and can't imagine the grief and loss they must feel.

MAY DAYS YARD SALE FINDS

This little lamp I found was just my thing. As most of you know I collect
Tea pots and cups so when I saw this I just had to have it.
It did have the most horrible shade on it though so quick trip to Wally World
and tada my new lamp. Just $2.00. Isn't it just charming?

Yeppers had to have this one too. lol I think this one was $2.00 also.

Now these two have a little story behind them. A few years ago
my youngest daughter Brittanie bought me the most precious
Thomas Kenkade vase knowing how much I adore his paintings.
So one day when mom and I were having a sale she had this bowl out for
just 25 cents so I grabbed it and then she found me the tea pot at another sale
for 75 cents. They are truely treasures to me. Thanks mom!!!

Not real sure what i'm gonna do with this yet but it caught my eye and I just had to have it.
I think it was $3.00.

IN THE GARDEN

The garden is growing fast and doing really well.
Here are the tomato's and peppers.

I believe (although not sure lol) these are our raddishes peeking out
of the rich Oklahoma soil. Mom and Dad are the pro's at gardening I'm still learning
and can't tell just by looking what some plants are.

Peppers are what i'm most excited about getting my hands on.
We planted Radishes, Okra, Squash, peppers, and Tomatoes.
I still can't believe we forgot ONIONS!!!!

Pansies Mom was told will keep bugs out of the garden and they're really
pretty planted all around the garden.

EVEN CACTUS CAN BE PRETTY

There are two of these beautiful cactus growing in my back yard.
Mom told me the name of them but I forget now what they are.
I just think they're so pretty I wanted to blog them for everyone to see.

Destiney kept telling me Mom you need to get pictures of that plant in
your back yard. But alas I am a forgetful person I fear to admit and ended up not getting
the pictures while they were still in full bloom, but I still think it's very pretty.

A TRIP TO THE ZOO

Ok.....so yesterday I got a call from Destiney saying we're taking the babies to the Zoo, then she asked if we wanted to go? Well we sure did (never miss a chance to be with kiddo's) so we jumped in our car and rushed over there. After getting everyone and everything loaded we headed out for a day of fun. So......thought I'd share a few pics of our day. I hope you enjoy our little trip to the Zoo.

Here are our men folk pushing the strollers from the parking lot which was a journey in itself.

Sorry I ended up cutting Kendalls head off. I couldn't see my screen in the sunlight at that point and didn't realize I did this.

This is what you find just inside the gate. Gift shops, ice cream shop, and sweets shop. I could have spent the whole day right here!! LOL

Ok so while posting these pics I thought boy it sure would come in handy to have a cam with a keyboard on it so I could take a picture and then type in what the name of the item is, then thought DUHHHH I could have just took a picture of the name of the animals so I'd know what they were but since I just thought of that you'll find I don't know the names of most of the animals I'll be posting pics of. So sorry about that but they are still pretty!

Where we found these birds was in a large cage where the birds were free to fly around anywhere inside the building.

Destiney and Kendall in the bird paradise.......before.......a bird flew right toward Destiney and she just about hit the floor to avoid it then got really scared and left us all in there while she waited outside the building. LOL Note: Kendall's head is in this shot!!

Ever seen one of these? This Anteater is not the most attractive fella in the Zoo but he was interesting to look at.

Ok now everyone the next few pics are of my favorite exhibit at the Zoo but some of you might not be too interested. If you don't care for snakes I totally understand and would understand if you skip to the later parts of my posting. Destiney wouldn't even go in this building with us. I'm ok with them as long as they're behind glass and they are really pretty in color.

Giant Hissing Cockroaches!! YUCK!!

Large, Large, Large is all I can say to this one.

Giant Turtle and I do mean Giant eating his lunch. Tyler looked at this for quit some time.

One of Destiney's favorites to see at the zoo. Monkeys! This fella didn't pay any of us much mind. He just sat in his place and looked at everyone.

This apes name is Kathy, she is the oldest ape to give birth in captivity at age 41.

She is an exceptional mother and has raised 8 babies.

In the left hand lover corner you will see part of the face of her mate who was sleeping in the corner and wasn't interested in what was going on at all. She laid there and kept poking him on the shoulder like she was saying to him "wake up it's show time" then her little babie came toward her and she reached for him like we would reach for our babies he fell into mom's arms and they kissed each other. This was so sweet to see.

These Meere Kats (not sure on spelling) were the cutest things.

Tyler kept patting his legs calling to them doggie doggie doggie. LOL

They were a little interested in us and would look around at us once in a while but for the most part they just ran around and layed around a lot more.

Now after walking around in circles, getting lost once, and going up and down hills, these little fellas looked like I felt so we decided to call it a day and head toward the house. Soooooo after a LONG walk up hill to the exit my legs and hips were letting me know they weren't very happy with me and then the walk back to the car. We got everyone and everything loaded back up and headed to lunch. We hit our favorite Mexican food place "Teds" and had a nice relaxing lunch before heading home.

And that was our day at the Zoo hope you enjoyed it, I sure did.

NOTHING SO PRECIOUS

I find it hard to imagine anything more precious than a baby's feet.
My daughter, Destiney snapped this picture one day when I was kissing sweet
Kinsey's feet. I play with her often like this and we have our bonding time.
Her face so soft and eyes so blue they can look right through you.
Little hands that hold on tight to your fingers and won't let go always make me
smile, but those little feet that will skip and jump, run and stumble,
carry her through her years, will take her to new places,
lead her in many directions, but always bring her back home.
How can there be anything more sweet!

TODAY'S YARD SALE FINDS

Yes my dear I just about fell over when I found this chalk board.
It's huge, has a tin compartment for chalk and a shelf under that for erasers, and
to top it off has two silver metal hooks on the bottom. I love chalk boards and
have been looking for just the right one for my kitchen forevvvvvver.
Got this awesome one for only $5.00 and am just thrilled.
If you don't go to yard sales you should cause you just never know
what treasure you'll find.

This flower spray I found for only $2.00. It's really pretty big and will
hang above a door or above the lights on the bathroom mirror, not sure which yet.
But it was definately worth the money. I took this picture and it's only a small
portion on the whole thing because it was too big to fit in one picture and still see
it's detail.

And these two pie carriers. I couldn't believe it when I saw them from the road. I've been
hunting some of these too and I jumped out of the car and ran to see how much. Destiney goes to
the sales with me and thought I had lost my mind. LOL But oh the joy that flowed when the lady
said she wanted just $1.00 each for them. Let me tell ya I grabbed them both like they were
the last in the world. I love the fork and spoon on top of the first one, and don't think I've ever
seen any like this before.

EASTER JOYS

Here you see what I did on my "ME TIME" day. lol Got together with the girls
and decorated eggs for Easter. This is the fruit of our labor....well.....was mostly the girls
I was playing with the babies but that's a way of helping Right????

Tyler and Pa Pa hunting eggs. Tyler in his little suit looked so sweet. What was really cute was
we had some plastic eggs with dollar bills in them. The first one he found he opened saw the dollar
gave a squeel, grabbed the dollar and threw the egg down. LOL He's not even 2 yet and already likes
dollar bills Look out mom and dad!!!! lol

And here is our sweet little Kinsey who still isn't sure what all the fuss is about.
But she's a sweet little angel don't you think?

ME TIME

I have been hearing from doctors and mom and friends that if I don't take care of myself
I can't take care of others. I have a ill husband, 3 beautiful daughters, 2 wonderful grandbabies with
another on the way. I clean house, baby sit, cook, pray, run here and there, take calls all day, and love doing
this for them, but have just decided that tommorrow is gonna be declaired a ME day.
That's right I'm gonna take tom and do with it what Annette wants to do. Maybe lay around and read a book
maybe play a game on my pc and listen to music or even just take a nap. Might even just go for a good long
drive to clear my head and breath some fresh air. I think everyone should take a me day on whatever
day they can, tell everyone it's mom's day and just take the day off to spoil yourself.
Most times I let myself go (hair, makeup, toe nails, finger nails most things that make me feel pretty)
and just go without because there is so much other stuff to do.
I've even had my head so full of what I need to do for others that I don't think about myself and at times
even forgot to take my medications. Well you can just imagine how my doc liked that. So he turns to me
last week and says quote " and who is gonna do alllll that for your family when you're dead" end quote.
He said Annette if you don't take care of yourself you're not going to be around to do anything
for the rest of them. Well that struck me hard and i've been working on all that things he told me.
This however is just a me idea I want a day where I don't have to worry about anything
and just relax so that's what i'm gonna do tom. I'm going to enjoy my life a little.
I hope some of you will join me.....would love to hear how you spent your YOU day!
I'll be on tom night to let you know what I did with my day. And maybe can even get you a few
pictures.

NEW ADDITION TO OUR FAMILY

Thought I would introduce our new family memeber to ya today.
I got our Izzy at Wal Mart from some kids who were giving away the most addorable pups.
Mom and I were together she got the white pup and I got the black one.
I'm not sure what he is but I do know he's part German Shepherd and is so darn cute.
Now just look in those eyes....who could pass that up? The top pic was taken right after
we got her the bottom is a pic of her now she sure is growing.

Got her mainly for Tyler so he would have a pet to grow up with....I mean every little boy
needs a doggy don't you think? Tyler sure loves her but she's still a little rough for his taste so
for now they just kinda look at each other but I'm sure before long they'll be best buds.

IN THE MAIL

A couple weeks back I ordered these beautiful houses from ebay. I had been to town
with hubby and daughter trying to take care of some business. I wasn't feeling well
and was having one of those days where nothing was going right and was just feeling blah,
when we pulled in the driveway and two huge boxes sat on the porch steps.
These darling houses were just part of the delivery and I fully intended on painting
at least some on them today but alas my new insulin shots made me sick sick sick this morning
so i've just been laying in bed trying to keep the tummy still.
I wanted to post the pic anyway so you could see how sweet they are and as soon
as I can paint them will be showing you the finished items.

MY NEWEST TREASURE

This old cabinet has been at my mom's house for a very long time!
So let me tell you a little story.
I've always admired my mom and dad for their taste in wonderful,
old, vintage, special, and beautiful furniture. You see my dad can make something
beautiful out of nothing and this was one of those things.
This cabinet was one that I had admired for a very very long time.
I had honestly been thinking how I wish I could find something like it
to put in my kitchen/dinning room after we had remodeled it.
So one day i'm sitting in my living room watching something boring on TV and
not really feeling very well when mom came over to visit for a few and she had
been working and thinking about changing some things in her house, and was
telling me about what she wanted to do, when she suddenly said....
"You know I think i'm gonna take that big cabinet out of my kitchen and sell it in
the next yard sale" Well let me tell ya didn't take me long to perk up!! LOL
Mom, I said, are you sure you want to do that? and how much are you
gonna ask for it if you do? $50.00 or so most likely she says and I said
SOLD!!!! Told her to make sure it's what she wanted to do and talk to dad
about it and if it's ok I want it. The next day we moved my new treasure home.
Where it stands used to be a counter and two cabinets which I had hubby tear out
and now I have this beauty......I smile every time I walk through my kitchen/dinning room now.
Isn't it wonderful how a piece of furniture can make a dreary day much brighter!!!

SALVATION ARMY FIND

OHHHHH YEAH..... I did!! Found these little treasures
at the Salvation Army one day while goofing off with mom.
The pink caught my eye from across the room. I thought to
myself..."self those are probably plastic anyway" but after
a few minutes I went over and found they were glass!!!!
Well my friends I just grabbed those little babies thinking
they're probably going to be more than what I can pay right
now but they were only $1.25 each, and yes I brought them
right home with me. LOL

Here is a close up of the pattern on them....they are just
perfect for me. Oh and btw DD Destiney thought they
were perfect too and she got a better deal than I did!!!
She took one of them home with her for FREE!!!!
LOL I really didn't mind because now she had to bring
me food in it when we all get together so was a good
trade in the end.

Here is one of the joys of my life...Little Tyler Bradley! He is sure looking something over in that first pic isn't he? LOL
I do believe it was one of mom's bird houses hanging in the tree.
Oh and notice in the second pic the skinned forhead? Well this is our second "BIG" boo boo. Our little
tooter fell while being honery and skinned his little forhead, it looks much better in the pics
than it did a few days ago when he first did it, but just look at that face I can't believe he would be
honery can you? LOL

And then I got this pic right before we went back in the house. Pay no attention to the bench
in the background....that's where I do all my spray painting! LOL
And with that I leave you with this thought.....

I grabbed this stitched item at a yard sale last summer and it hangs in my office now.
I just had to have it because it is soooooo true.
Gotta love those grandies!!!!

AN EXPLANATION

Hello all my blogging friends! Sure has been a while since I have posted,
would like to bring everyone up to speed on what's been going on here at our place.

It has been a struggle for the last few months, first of all my oldest daughter (Destiney)
has decided to go back to school medical transcriptionist and I've been babysitting the young ones so they take
much of my time 3 days a week but I'm so happy to do it and so proud of Destiney.
My middle daughter (Cheyenne) also is heading back to school....Nursing....she had no children
and lives here at home but it takes some time helping her get all she needs to do done.

Also I've had diabetes for several years which we could not get under controll. My last
doctor visit he put me on a new insulin which is doing the job but makes me very ill at times
until I get used to it but is bringing my sugar levels down thank the Lord.

For these reasons and several others I have not been spending much time on my blog
or crafting but I'm so glad to let you know that I think I'm getting better and feeling
more like my old self again so I'm going to be working on my blog the next few days and getting some posts
done. I sure hope I haven't lost my followers and hope you understand.

Here are some plates I did the dry brushing on to hang in my kitchen.
Norman Rockwell paintings have always caught my eye so when I saw these plates
I grabbed them like a kid in a candy store.
These pics are the begging stages you paint the project black then take three
different shades of brown and dry brush them on one at a time until they look somewhat
like this.

Yes when I was a little girl my mom got me started doing ceramics.
The other day I took a little trip with my oldest and youngest daughters to the
local ceramic shop where I found this addorable angel. I knew right away I had to
have her so I brought her home.
Base coated her with white ceramic primer,
then stained her with walnut stain, and then
did dry brush technique on her. Above is before,
and Below is the after.
What do ya think?

I'd love to hear from you if you do ceramics or would like
to give dry brushing a try.

WASHER NECKLACE AND EARRINGS TUTORIAL

Hello all my friends out there in blog land. First I want to let you know that

this is not an original idea. Yes, I saw it on another blog and now I can't find it again!!!

So I'm posting this to help you in case you can't find it either and I've now got

a plan for next time I find something on a blog that I try.

If this was you're original idea please, please let me know you're blog so I can link it here!

This is what you're gonna need.

mod podge or decoupage finish.

crystal effects

washers

paint brush

exacto knife

leather or this cord I found at WM too they had no leather.

emery board or files

scrap paper

I found this vast array of washers in all sizes at Wal Mart for right at 2.00

Take your washers and paint your decoupage or mod podge on one side

then glue them down to your scrap paper. Let dry.

I did several sets at one time.

After they have dried completely take your exacto knife and cut
the centers and around outside edge.

Now take your file and file around the center paper and around outside
edge to knock off the rough edges.

Here is where I experimented for you. I tried several different things
to seal them with just to see if anything else would work.

The clear elmers glue seemed to be a good idea but the paper pretty much
just absorbed into the paper so it's a no go unless you would want
to try letting it dry and putting on another coat but I didn't try that.

The sculpey glaze I had on hand so tried it and it worked pretty good at first
but then the next morning had pulled on the edges of the paper so It also is
pretty much a no go.

So.......You pretty much have only one choice out of the three
I tried and that's the stampin up Crystal Effects. It's a great product
doesn't run off the edges and gives a rounded finish to the item.

Now you just take your leather and loop it through the large ring, and
I got some earring hoops from Micheals and just put the small washers on
the rings.

And these are my finished products after I recovered all the trials with
the Crystal effects.

Please remember this is not an original idea and if you happen to find

BIRTHDAY CANISTERS

OK.....check out these cool canisters I got with birthday money from my oldest daughter
Destiney I've wanted these forever and finally got them. I'm so excited!!!!

Now of coarse they need labels so I dug out a stamp set and
stamped the words on vellum paper which I LOVEEEEE

Then carefully laminated them so they can be washed and easily removed if and when
I decide to change them which there is pretty good chance of. lol

And here are the finished projects simple but I love them.

A LITTLE FACE LIFT

So here is what we've been up to the last week. I've been wanting to brighten my kitchen for about a year now and the other morning my DH wakes me saying lets do the kitchen. Woot Woot I couldn't believe it but I jumped out of bed and we got started.

Here are a couple pictures of what we started with, I hate dark cabinets to me makes the room so dreary and dark. Please excuse the mess in and around the sink It's a dose of reality for ya lol Everytime you start something in the kitchen everyone needs a drink and something to eat.

This area was just a empty wall so DH comes to my rescue and builds me a counter and shelves. We aren't financially able to get doors yet but hopefully will before too long.

Tyler got a real kick out of this area and grabbed his hammer to help Pa Pa build.

that horrible yellow anymore. Now that's exciting!!!

This area is dividing my living room from my kitchen it's just a counter
with some cabinets under it but will soon be an island DH is working on
that one for me too, but for now it looks better too. Lol

Below you'll see the countertop DH made for me
it's so pretty, clean and shiney. This is where we don't have doors made yet.

Just threw in a pic of the wonderful shelf hubby put up for me too. All in all I'm
pretty darn happy with my kitchen face lift. What would you like to
give a face lift to in your house? Just grab some paint and get to it.

LOOK WHAT I WOKE UP TO

Yes......the other morning after our last big ice storm I woke up to find a fort in my living room.
We had lost power again and the wonderful aunt and mommy of these darling faces decided
to keep the little angels warm they'd build a fort and bundle them up in it. Thanks to flashlights and cell phones they kept Tyler busy enough that he stayed under the fort and kept warm until the power came back. How lucky am I to have such sweetness going on at my house.

Was lucky enough to get a shot with mom in it lol Tyler looks like he's having a ball and little sis just looks unimpressed lol mom looks like she's having loads of fun too!!! lol

Yes at our house this is what it looks like today. The storm has hit and started with a bang.
The freezing rain now it's sleeting and later is to come snow and sleet mixture.
Yes looks like we are home and not going anywhere for the next couple days....bummer!
At least everyone is safe and warm.
But I'm gonna try to make the best of it and do some crafting and blog.
